It’s been a minute since I’ve posted something astrology related. I was going back and forth in my mind about whether to continue writing about the moon phases and different topics on astrology.
Then I remembered how in tune I am with what’s going on up in the cosmos and decided I would share what I’ve learned about this intense moon phase we’re experiencing today. Because you too might be affected or influenced by these energies and want a little more clarity on why or what you’re feeling right now!
On The Jess & Aman Show, we also had quite the conversation about moon phases, astrology, and energy themes if you want to watch or listen here!
Today, Tuesday, September 17th at 7:35p.m. PST, we will experience a Super Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Pisces at 25 degrees. It will be the start of a new eclipse season on the Pisces-Virgo axis which will last until February 2027.
Some of us could have started feeling the energy of this full moon lunar eclipse about a week ago and the influence could last up to a week after the actual event…however, we also have the new moon solar eclipse in October that overlaps with this energy. Both of these eclipses can continue to affect us for up to 6 months in total; hence why it’s called an eclipse “season”.
The last time we had this energetic influence was from March 2015 to February 2017, so you can reflect back on what happened in your life around that time to know how you might be affected by the same energy this time around. The last lunar eclipse in Pisces was September 16th, 2016 if you wanted to get even more specific with time.
Reflecting on my own past, I have realized that during the time between March 2015 and February 2017, I was focusing on my holistic health and creating better habits. I was taking my health into my own hands by getting off of anti-depressants and using nutrition to make the transition. I was doing yoga on a regular basis, working out (probably the most consistently I ever have), and cutting all sorts of things out of my diet. It was the time of my life where I had the most routine and I was strongly dedicated to my self-care. I can definitely feel that same energy arising in my life right now.
The Pisces-Virgo axis is all about holistic healing, daily routines, self-care, compassion, imagination, and finding a balance between our conscious and subconscious minds. Full Moons are times of transformation and rebirth. They represent endings and beginnings as well as moments of culmination. During a full moon, it’s best to surrender and release your faith into the cosmos rather than force things to happen. It can be an emotional or dramatic time and considering it is occuring in a water sign, you could experience even more water works!
Full moons are also times of higher awareness and things coming to light. If you think about the symbology of a full moon, it is “full of light” and shining bright which let’s us see things we may not have seen clearly before so we can get a full picture. The exception of this is during an eclipse where the moon is fully or partially covered by the earth, symbolizing that we might be missing some pieces of the puzzle, so to speak.
Lunar eclipses can be uncomfortable to experience because they alter the effects of a full moon and push us into new levels of awareness but without uncovering the full picture. We might receive information or intuitive hits that direct us on a path without understanding or knowing where it’s taking us. This is when we learn to surrender and go with the flow by trusting the messages we are receiving.
The energy of lunar eclipses support us in completing a journey, starting a new quest, or creating a breakthrough transformation. They help us release what is no longer serving us for our highest timeline which can instantly veer us off our current path to a path more aligned with our dreams. This will usually cause relationships to end in order to make space for new relationships that resonate more with who you are becoming. Relationships are not limited to romantic partnerships either; they can be work relationships, relationships with pets, and the energetic connections we have with anything.
If you have been avoiding change in your life when deep down you know you want it, eclipses will pressure you into making that change. Usually you won’t be able to avoid it, but in the case that you do, it will only delay the journey to your highest timeline.
This lunar eclipse will most strongly affect people with planetary placements around the 25 degree mark in Pisces. To discover where this is in your natal chart, take a look at where you have Pisces in your chart and if there are any planets around the 25 degree mark. It could also strongly affect people who have planets within 20-30 degrees in mutable signs (Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius) and 0-1 degrees in cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn).
If you have planets within 5 degrees of this degree, take a look at what house it’s in within your chart. The house will tell you which area of your life will be affected by this transit.
Because this full moon is also a super moon (meaning it will appear closer to us in the sky due to it’s proximity to earth) the energy is amplified even more! It is also conjunct Saturn (the planet of limits and boundaries) and Neptune (the planet of illusions, intuition, and imagination). This can support us in connecting to our mystic side and ignite our creativity into visualizing our ideals and then creating responsibilities and structure that will help turn our visions into reality.
If you feel a little too in your head, or you’re having a hard time remaining down to earth while imagining your ideals, then you could meditate. While meditating, relax your whole body, releasing any tension or stress from it. Bring your awareness into your body and visualize a root or cord coming from your root chakra and connecting to the center of the earth. Feel Mother Earth’s grounding energy. Once you feel connected, bring your awareness up to your third-eye (your mind’s eye) and imagine what it is that you want to manifest or feel. Immerse yourself in your vision and pretend that you already have what you are imagining. Feel gratitude for the experience and having it in this present moment.
This eclipse is also T-squaring with Jupiter (the planet of abundance, opportunities, and expansion) in Gemini. A square aspect is when two planets are in a 90 degree angle with each other. This creates a bit of tension and conflict and potentially a little bit of struggle between the two energies. A T-square is when you have two opposing planets, such as the sun and moon in the case of a full moon, where they are obviously both squaring the same planet. This aspect can cause us to become aware of how we want to grow and expand in our life and inspire us to learn new things and jump on opportunities! Until we do that, we might feel stuck or sense some tension around this eclipse energy.
This full moon lunar eclipse could present a conclusion to something that you started manifesting back around March 10th of this year when we had a new moon in Pisces. Maybe what you dreamed of back then or envisioned for your life is coming to fruition or already has. I know in my own life, this is exactly what is happening! It was back in March that I was truly considering moving to Vancouver Island. I had the vision and intention and put it out into the universe. Everything fell in place along the way and now I am settled into my life here.
Pisces is the most spiritual sign in astrology. It represents the infinite possibilities in our universe and shows us that we are also limitless when we are consciously connected to Source and our true essence. With the infinite world comes the collective consciousness, healing potentials, enlightenment, and the dreams and visions that we can manifest into our reality with intention. Pisces reminds us to tap into the mysticism of life and have faith in the unknown by trusting what the universe has in store for us. It inspires us to expand our awareness, connect with the divine energy of creation, and have compassion towards ourselves and others as we are all interconnected.
Virgo is more about our physical reality and what we do in our day to day life. It represents our daily routine and how we stay organized in our habits and our responsibilities. This sign is all about self-care and how we serve ourselves and others. Unlike Pisces who teaches us to be unattached, Virgo represents the things that we are attached to or committed to in our everyday life and the need for boundaries within those relationships.
This polarity with the Full Moon in Pisces and Sun in Virgo (and the start of this eclipse season) is going to be about balancing these opposing energies. This could mean learning to create a spiritual practice that works for you in your daily routine and developing healthy habits around self-care. How organized are you in your home or workplace? Now might be a good time to reflect on the details in your everyday life. If you’ve been trying to create new habits and it’s just not working, maybe it’s because the way you go about your day does not allow space for it to manifest. Reflect on this and see where you could make some changes.
“The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets.”
―J. M. Wonderland
The extreme side of Pisces includes chaos or complete disorganization; being too in the flow to the point that you lack any sort of structure. It also includes being submerged in your spirituality and disassociating with your physical reality. Are you living too much in la-la-land that you’re not taking any action in life? Getting stuck in illusions or even delusions can prevent you from moving forwards. Pisces is also a very emotional sign. By reflecting on how you get triggered emotionally, you can discover unhealed areas within yourself that need some work.
On the other side of things, the extreme side of Virgo includes being overly obsessive or rigid about your routine (maybe a little “OCD”…) and not allowing enough space for flow. This energy could also manifest as overworking yourself or being too much in service of others that you forget to take care of yourself. An extreme side of Virgo energy could also be seen as too focused on detail that you can’t accomplish anything: a perfectionist.
This is why balance is so important in anything that we do. It’s OK if we end up on the extreme sides sometimes, but by having self-awareness and being observant of our thoughts, feelings, and actions, we can bring ourselves back into equilibrium and benefit from the good qualities that these signs have to offer.
This eclipse is allowing us to see the unhealed parts of us that we can work on, whether they be emotional, physical, mental, or spiritual. When we become aware of the subconscious thoughts or emotions that are holding us back, we have the ability to transform them and start acting with intuitive intention rather than from a place of anxiety and fear. We can learn to keep ourselves grounded and create boundaries to protect our energy.
I had a perfect example of that yesterday. There is a new young horse at the barn where I stable my horse. She does NOT know boundaries. Since I was kicked by a horse last year, I’ve noticed that anxiety arises in me when I feel a horse is not respecting my personal bubble. I know this about myself and did my best to keep calm in the situation today when she bonked me on the head and then tried to grab the food out of my hands. Emotions definitely surfaced, but I was able to stay assertive and grounded rather than completely panicking and avoiding the situation altogether. Considering Virgo governs pets, I’m not surprised this little cosmic lesson came about!
This is a great time to create or transform a spiritual practice, build some self-care habits, or discover a new way to be of service. It’s also a good time to work with the spiritual realm in the form of sound, vibrational medicine, or meditation; especially when it comes to tapping into your imagination and visualization skills. Daydream! Take some time to indulge in creating the vision of the life that you want and have fun with it! Pisces energy is about limitless possibilities and that is exactly what we need to start becoming more aware of in life.
On the topic of discovering a new way to be of service, if it hasn’t already happened, you might find yourself moving into a different field of work or service within the next six months. It could be something you have wanted to do for awhile but never took the chance on or maybe something you never thought about before but has magically appeared and resonates with who you want to be.
There is a lot of energy around this super full moon lunar eclipse, so remember to be mindful of your energy and honour your feelings. If you feel the need to cry then cry (I did this morning when I had an overwhelming feeling of gratitude and connection to Spirit), or if you want to isolate then go spend some alone time with yourself. Trust your intuition and what you need to do around this time with this energetic influence. And if you’re struggling with listening to your intuition, go sit in nature, maybe underneath the moon, and feel the energy of the universe supporting you no matter what.
Namaste.
With Gratitude,
